The building of the Psychiatric Clinic in Halmstad, Sweden, part of Halland Hospital, was laser-scanned in 2015 in order to develop an accurate Revit model that would be used for designing a planned building renovation. It was the first of many projects done by Walter for White Arkitekter, and one of the most interesting ones.
The building, commonly known as Pepparkakshuset, or “the gingerbread house”, because of its appearance, was built in 1916 and used as an orphanage until 1955, when it became the home of the Halland Hospital’s Psychiatric Clinic, which it still remains today.
The modelling was done at a relatively high level of detail for specific categories, especially in the exterior, and thus it included a large number of custom-made families due to the age and architectural style of the building.
